Hello everyone! 大家好! I’m Mina Gardić, a qualified MA teacher of Chinese language and literature.
I first began learning Chinese at the very start of secondary school, when I chose it as an elective subject. Back then, I was driven by an irresistible curiosity for new knowledge and a fascination with the unknown. As Chinese is entirely different from the languages we usually encounter, mastering it felt like a challenge I simply couldn’t resist.
Four years later, I was completely captivated by the language and knew without a doubt that I wanted to study Chinese — and nothing else. It was at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade that my true journey began. Through a range of courses, I delved not only into the language and literature, but also the rich culture, history, geography and cinema of China. Most importantly, I gained a solid foundation in translation and teaching.
The highlights of my studies were two exchange programmes in China, where I was awarded scholarships by the Confucius Institute. These opportunities allowed me to attend classes at Shanghai Open University and Xi’an Jiaotong University. Alongside developing my language skills, I was able to experience everyday life in China first-hand and deepen my understanding of its society and culture.

My Teaching Journey
My journey as a Chinese language teacher began in 2022, during the final year of my Master’s degree. Although I’d never really pictured myself in a teaching role, a series of unexpected events led me to my first beginner’s Chinese course at a language school. It didn’t take long for me to realise it was nothing like I’d imagined — in the best possible way. I found that I genuinely enjoyed working with students and sharing my passion for the language and culture.
Not long afterwards, I started teaching independently, and in time launched my Instagram page, which helped me take everything to the next level.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with:
groups and individual learners
primary and secondary school pupils, as well as adults
I offer courses from A1 (HSK1) up to B2 (HSK4) level, and I also prepare students for international HSK exams. More recently, I’ve added an email programme, The First 100 Chinese Characters, along with practice worksheets to help students master characters on their own, whatever their level.
